Mukesh Ambani Business/Companies

In the first years within Reliance, Mukesh began contributing to the company by reporting directly to Rasikbhai Meswani, Executive Director at that time.

Reliance was built on the principle that everyone contributed to the business and thus did not depend on selected individuals.

From this moment on, Mukesh created Reliance Infocomm Limited, a company that focused on information and communications technology initiatives.

At the age of 24 years, he was commissioned to build the Patalganga petrochemical plant, at which time he was investing heavily in petroleum and petrochemical refineries.

Thanks to this, Mukesh was treated by his father as a business partner. Because of this, he was free to contribute to Reliance, despite his little experience.

In July 2002 he suffered the death of his father. This increased the tension between Mukesh and his brother Anil because Dhirubhai did not report how the properties will be distributed.

His mother, Kokilaben, decided to intervene and divided the company into two, leaving Mukesh in charge of Reliance Industries Limited and Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited.

He later directed the creation of the world’s largest oil refinery, located in Jamnagar, India. This had a production capacity of 660,000 barrels per day, in 2010, and which integrates petrochemicals, power generation, ports among others.

In 2013 he announced the possibility of a collaboration with Bharti Airtel to establish a digital infrastructure for the 4G network in India.

A year later Mukesh unveiled at the 40th General Assembly of Reliance Industry, the investment of about $ 25 million to use in three years, which would include the launch of 4G broadband in 2015.

In 2016, Reliance was ranked as the third best-selling mobile phone brand in India. Ambani’s success gradually increased after the launch of the Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited service.

It offered a high quality of service to users at a low price.

During 2018 Mukesh Ambani added $ 44.3 billion to its Reliance Industries conglomerate, positioning itself as the richest man in Asia and the 19th richest person in the world.

It controls 43% of Reliance Industries, which is the second-largest company in India and has a capitalization of more than 100,000 million dollars.

Qualification/Education

Regarding his studies, his father cared little for grades and more for his attitude towards life.

He studied at Hill Grange High School in Peddar Road, Mumbai, and later obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Matunga, Mumbai.

He also attended Stanford University to obtain his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. In 1980 he left the school, at the age of 23, with the aim of helping his father build Reliance.

The company was, at that time, considered a small fast-growing industry.

His father believed that real-life skills were based more on experience than what he learned in the classroom. So he asked him to quit his studies at Stanford and take over a thread manufacturing project.
